As the City shuts down, and you get ready for another night at the movies at home, dinner can still be a special occasion for the family. And both El Portal and Yahaira’s are waiting for you to come by and pick that dinner up.
Both local favorites have a couple of family combo meals that not only take the work out of preparing dinner, but are also surprisingly affordable. Hungry locals can choose from the $30 Family of Four Fajita Meal, or the $25 Enchilada Family Meal.
Let’s take them one at a time, shall we?:
The $30 Fajita Meal comes with either chicken or beef, your choice of tortillas, along with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and a salad. The $25 family meal is your choice of four enchiladas, either chicken or beef, and four tamales, or four enchiladas and four Chile Rellenos. It also comes with either chicken or beef, your choice of tortillas, along with rice, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo and a salad.
And it gets even easier. According to El Portal’s Armando Ramirez, patrons can simply drive up and park in the front lot off Green Street and their meals will be waiting for them. And while we’re on the subject of breakfast burritos (!), Yahaira’s Restaurant, their other family eatery on the Colorado Boulevard side of the arcade, is offering $5 breakfast burritos to pick up all day long.
Beginning Tuesday, March 17, the following hours will be in effect at El Portal and Yahaira’s restaurants until further notice: El Portal: 11 am – 7 pm and Yahaira’s Cafe: 8 am – 12 noon
Both restaurants are now offering FaceBook and Instagram Specials posted on along with some new specials suited for dining in at home. Customers can call for parking lot pick up at El Portal at (626) 795-8553
For Yahaira’s Cafe, customers may call (626) 844-3254 for pickup on Colorado Blvd. Please call once you’ve arrived and we will deliver to you.
El Portal also uses DoorDash, and Postmates, while Yahaira’s Cafe is available through Grubhub and Postmates
In addition, says El Portal, “We continue to maintain a rigorous daily screening of employees’ health and an aggressive protocol for cleaning and sanitizing food preparation surfaces and areas. Our health – and yours – is the highest priority.”
And you won’t be standing in line at the supermarket with a shopping cart.
El Portal is at 695 East Green Street, Pasadena, CA. (626) 795-8553. www.elportalrestaurant.com.
