Restoration Concert Series Continues with Tereza Stanislav and Steven Vanhauwaert – a Violin and Piano Recital

The Friends of the South Pasadena Library’s Restoration Concert Series continues with Tereza Stanislav and Steven Vanhauwaert – a Violin and Piano Recital on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. The concert will take place in the Community Room of the South Pasadena Public Library.

Tereza Stanislav divides her time between chamber, solo, orchestral and recording projects. She is hailed for her expressive beauty, sure technique, musical intelligence and intensity. Ms. Stanislav has appeared in venues such as the Library of Congress, the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. She is an advocate for new music and has worked with composers such as Steve Reich, Gunther Schuller and Gernot Wolfgang.

Steven Vanhauwaert – pianist, is a native of Belgium and is known for his “impressive clarity, sense of structure and monster technique” (Mark Swed-L.A. Times). He has appeared in solo recitals at the Disney Concert Hall, and in venues in Beijing, Shanghai, and Bulgaria. Mr. Vanhauwaert was a featured guest in a documentary on creativity for the German/French Channel ARTE. He frequently collaborates with todays leading composers such as Jeremy Cauaterrc, Gyorgy Kurtag, Adam Schoenberg and Steve Reich.

Andrew Shulman is the principal cellist with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and is on the Faculty at U.S.C. Mr. Shulman was the 1st British winner of the Piatigorsky Award and was also made an Honorary RCM by the Queen Mother. Mr. Shulman performs world-wide and is a regular guest at festivals, collaborating with Kahane, Hadelich, Steinhardt, Harrell, and Tibaudet. As conductor, he has performed in the U.K., Europe and Scandinavia; and is one of the most sought-after cellists in TV and movies.

Program: Mozart – Sonata in E minor, K304; Janacek – Sonata for Violin and Piano; Ravel – Kaddish (Dedicated to Ms. Stanislav’s mother Agnes Stanislav); and Brahms – Trio in B major.
