Russian-born Violinist of International Renown Featured in Wednesday’s ‘Virtual Music at Noon’

The Pasadena Presbyterian Church’s virtual Music at Noon series features violinist Philip Vaiman and pianist Diana Volman on Wednesday, July 27, starting at 12 noon. 

Philip Vaiman is a Russian-born violinist of international renown as a soloist and chamber performer. Beginning his musical training in Russia and having graduated Moscow’s Gnessin Music Lyceum, Vaiman then moved to the United States and graduated Cum Laude from USC’s Thornton School of Music. During this time, he performed throughout the United States, western and eastern Europe and Asia. 

Vaiman’s professional career has taken him to concert halls around the globe and premier recording studios. He has also appeared on screen in such blockbusters as “The Wedding Planner,” “Amy’s O’s,” and “Spider Man 3.” 

Born in Moldova, Diana Volman holds a master’s degree in piano performance from the Moldova State Conservatory of Music. She is the winner of the sixth international Tchurlyonis Competition and was awarded first prize in the Rachmaninoff All-State Competition. 

Volman finished conservatory with the highest honors, and was offered a place on the faculty upon graduation. During her tenure, she was highly regarded as an interpreter of contemporary Moldovian and Ukrainian composers, and was frequently asked to debut their pieces and serve as editor of their published music. Her teachers include such eminent pianists as Vitaly Margulis, Dimitri Bashkirov, and Yevgeny Shenderovich.
