For the first time in its history, Sierra Madre will host a Latino Heritage Fiesta, marking a historic milestone for the small San Gabriel Valley city that has never formally celebrated Latino and Hispanic Heritage Month at the municipal level.
The free, family-friendly event scheduled for Saturday, September 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Memorial Park represents the city’s inaugural recognition of the Latino community’s cultural traditions and contributions.
“This is dedicated to honoring the rich cultural traditions, history, and contributions of the Latino community,” according to city organizers.
The celebration will transform Memorial Park into a vibrant showcase featuring live music, cultural entertainment, authentic Latino food vendors, and artisan craft booths offering traditional dishes and handmade goods.
The city of Sierra Madre’s Community Services Department is sponsoring the event, which will include community booths and activities for all ages.
Organizers describe the fiesta as “a special opportunity for the community to come together in recognition of culture, connection, and shared heritage.”
The timing coincides with National Hispanic Heritage Month, observed annually from September 15 to October 15, making Sierra Madre’s debut celebration particularly significant as communities nationwide honor Latino and Hispanic contributions to American culture.
Vendor opportunities remain available. Prospective vendors should contact the Community Services Department at 626-355-5278.
