Strengthen Your Dog’s Health with a Massage Hosted by Pasadena Humane

Published on Oct 12, 2020

Most people will do anything for their beloved dog, but would you give them a massage if you knew it improved both their physical and mental state?

You surely would! And that’s why Pasadena Humane is hosting a webinar with Certified Animal Massage Therapist (CAMT) Amber Lockspeiser, owner and founder of Happy Tails 2 You, to show the benefits of giving your dog a massage, on Wednesday, October 14, starting at noon.

Lockspeiser is doing this informative webinar where dog parents will learn basic massaging techniques and gentle stretching exercises for dogs. PHS says not only is dog massage a great wellness tool, but it also helps strengthen the human-animal bond.

Dogs Naturally magazine says there are at least six reasons to massage your dog: for relaxation, to manage pain, to accelerate the healing process after an injury or surgery, to increase range of motion in the joints as well muscle tone, to ease the effects of aging, and to reduce emotional problems due to trauma, anxiety, and fear.

Massaging your dog may also result in at least four physical benefits for your pet: physical benefits, such as increasing the flow of five different systems in mammals – blood, the lymphatic cleansing system, the cerebral spinal fluid, and the synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints to increase range of motion; and emotional benefits, where your dog learns to feel safe, understood, valued and accepted.

When you’re massaging your dog, a silent communication happens between you and your pet. Because of this, massage can actually help in training, as it aids enormously with your interactions in terms that your dog can understand.

Dog massage also increases the bond you already have with your dog. It’s also a great way to do a weekly wellness check to assess any changes in your dog’s health.
