Take a Minute or Two for Music

Published on Mar 20, 2021

Pasadena Senior Center will host MUSE/IQUE Artistic Producer Heather Lipson-Bell on Wednesday, March 24, as she leads talented guest artists from the MUSE/IQUE “In a Minute! (… Or Two)” program to explore music from the musician’s perspective.

The event is part of MUSE/IQUE’s Offstage Education Workshops which expand the reach of their live mainstage performances into Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area.

“It is our commitment to deliver the music and ideas from all of our programs to as many people as we possibly can,” MUSE/IQUE said.

Heather Lipson Bell designs these curriculum-based, small-group education workshops that engage participants in a deeper experience of the repertoire and themes of MUSE/IQUE’s mainstage performances, currently limited to video-conferencing because of the COVID-19 climate.

At these workshops, participants can have an up-close experience with artists direct from the MUSE/IQUE stage, explore self-expression, gain self-confidence and self-control, and connect with fellow students and staff.

In normal times, participants see, hear, and play a variety of musical instruments. Students act as both audience and participants as each workshop incorporates related art forms – dance, theater and visual arts. Each session is tailored specifically with each nonprofit partner organization in mind.

With the help of their partners, such as Pasadena Senior Center, MUS/IQUE has been able to adapt these workshops for video-conferencing since last year.

The event, MUSE/IQUE: From the Musician’s Perspective, begins at 4 p.m. and is free to attend.
