The Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Suinday in Central Park. At right, founders of Jackalope, Sara Diedrich (on the left) and Melissa Kohout (on the right) began #jackalopeartfair in 2015. Sara used to live in Pasadena.

Over 200 trendsetting artisans from the handmade arts and crafts community converge at Old Pasadena’s Central Park on Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24, for the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair.

These artisans are getting ready to display their wares in curated booths filling the park and offering visitors a weekend of family-friendly handmade shopping. Goods on offer, as currently listed on the event website, will include fashion forward socks, wildflower seed balls, ube cinnamon rolls, tufted wall art, home décor and houseware, DIY, Jackalope-themed merch, and many more.

The Fair is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Visitors will also see young artisans from the Pasadena Unified School District’s Visual Arts and Design Academy (VADA) and Pasadena Rose High School as they showcase their work.

The organizers are partnering with PUSD this year, and will be offering $5 gift cards to the first 100 faculty members or students with a PUSD ID. Gift cards can be obtained at the Info Booth on Saturday and Sunday and used to shop at any booth at the Fair.

Using the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair website, www.jackalopeartfair.com, attendees can pre-plan their shopping online and view all participating artisans, while learning more about this unique event that’s coming back in-person this year in Pasadena, Denver, Burbank, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Friends Melissa Kohout from Denver, and Sara Diederich, from Pasadena, started the Jackalope Indie Artisan Fair in the spring of 2015. Since then, they’ve been hosting semi-annual fairs in their home cities, adding Burbank in 2019 and Minneapolis last year.
