The Coleman Chamber Music Association Presents the Jerusalem Quartet

Published on Oct 21, 2022

The Coleman Chamber Music Association and Caltech present the Jerusalem Quartet on Sunday, Oct. 23, as the Coleman Association welcomes back live chamber music with its 2022-2023 season of extraordinary concerts.

The concert on Sunday will be at Caltech’s Beckman Auditorium and begins at 3:30 p.m.

Founded in 1904 by Alice Coleman (later Alice Coleman Batchelder), the Coleman Chamber Music Association is one of the oldest organizations in the United States dedicated to the presentation, understanding, and enjoyment of chamber music.

The Jerusalem Quartet was founded in 1993, and since has embarked on a journey of growth and maturation. This experience has resulted in a wide repertoire and stunning depth of expression, which carries on the string quartet tradition in a unique manner. The ensemble has found its core in a warm, full, human sound and an egalitarian balance between high and low voices.

“Passion, precision, warmth, a gold blend: these are the trademarks of this excellent Israeli string quartet,” the New York Times says in its impression of the Jerusalem Quartet.

Sunday’s program includes Mozart’s “Quartet in D Major, K. 575,” Prokofiev’s “Quartet No. 2 in F Major” and Brahms’ “Quartet in C minor, Op. 51, No. 1.”
