Pasadena seniors are in for a treat as the Great American Swing Band performs Monday, Sept. 6, in a Labor Day concert on the large patio behind the Pasadena Senior Center.
Pasadena Senior Center members can attend for free, and non-members pay only $5. Dancing is encouraged, and snack boxes and desserts will be included. The music begins at 3 p.m.
The Great American Swing Band, a 15-piece swing band led by Jodi Gladstone and vocalist Linda Vogel, performs the Big Band sounds of the 1940s, blues, rock, and contemporary music.
Gladstone is highly regarded as a trumpet player by many bands and orchestras because of her “angelic” tone and skillful expertise. She currently shares her musical talent with the youth as a music education teacher in the Long Beach Public School System. With her keen sense of musicality, Gladstone has taken the band to a height that equals many of the great groups that were popular during the Big Band Era.
