Turkey Trot at the Rose Bowl Today

Published on Nov 25, 2021

The Rose Bowl Stadium brings back its annual Rose Bowl Turkey Trot on Thursday, November 25, with the live in-person race at 9 a.m., and a virtual race option where registered participants can run or walk at a place of their choice.

Now in its fourth year, the Rose Bowl Turkey Trot is a traditional Pasadena family-friendly 5K race on Thanksgiving morning around America’s Stadium. For 2021, all entry fees  will be 100-percent tax-deductible and will go direct to the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation’s America’s Stadium Needs America Campaign, whose mission is to raise funds to continue to protect, preserve and enhance the Rose Bowl Stadium at this when the global pandemic has heavily impacted the Stadium financially.

A Rose Bowl statement on its website said with the postponement of college football and the cancellation of the concert season and hundreds of minor events, the Stadium is facing a potential revenue shortfall in excess of $15 million.

For the actual race around the Stadium, registration is currently ongoing online and will end at 8:45 a.m. Thursday. Races are for adults 18 and older, youth from ages 10 to 17, and kids 9 and under.

The race will go through a timed 3.1-mile course. All participants will receive a race bib and medal. The race will start and finish at the top of Lot K. The course itself will run through the spacious Brookside Golf Course.

On Race Day, bib pickup will begin at 7:30 a.m., although bibs will be available for pick-up from  Wednesday, November 24, 3 to 7 p.m. at the Rose Bowl Gate A entrance. Everyone is encouraged to pick up your bib in advance.

Registration for the virtual option has also started online and will end on Thanksgiving Day at 8:59 p.m. Participants in the virtual race can run through your neighborhood park or running trail, bike path, quiet neighborhood streets or wherever walking and running is safely permitted.

All participants are encouraged to use the RaceJoy app to track their official time and automatically send in their finish time as well as listen to some special messages from Rose Bowl friends during your trot. In addition, a downloadable custom race bib will be available as well.

Participants in the virtual races are encouraged to post photos of your trot and tag @rosebowlstadium and @rosebowllegacy and use hashtag #MemoriesMakeUs.
