USC Trojan Affiliates, a women’s organization dedicated to supporting the University of Southern California (USC) and its students, celebrated Women’s History Month with a remarkable “foodie fun-filled fundraiser.”
The event, orchestrated by Vivian Chan, VP Fundraising, featured celebrity chefs Theresa Lin, the “Julia Child of Chinese regional cuisine”, cookbook author, food critic and Ella Yu-Meng Hu, Pastry Director at the Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills and winner of the Young Culinary Artist Award in 2016.
The fundraiser, held at the Scholart Selection in the city of San Gabriel on March 10, was an afternoon of culinary delight and social enrichment. Guests were treated to an array of delicious dumplings expertly prepared and coupled with fine wines, curated by the talented chefs Lin and Hu. The hands-on experience and gourmet offering left attendees sated and fostered an atmosphere of camaraderie and philanthropic spirit.
Melody Wong, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the event. The generosity of the attendees, which included Gretchen Shepherd Romey (Vice Mayor of San Marino), and Denise Rivera Menchaca (Vice Mayor of San Gabriel), Denise Nelson Nash, Ed.D.(VP, Secretary of the Board of Trustees) & Stephanie Chan-Goldstein & Rosa Zee from Pasadena, Ellen Torres & Laura Farber from South Pasadena, Olga Castellanos McGee, Diane Watson, Mary Payne from San Marino.Trojan Affiliates Co-President Ayuko Siegel presented a special signature silk scarf designed for USC Trojan Affiliate to the two chefs in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the fundraiser’s success.
In addition to the fundraiser, USC Trojan Affiliates engage in various initiatives to support the university and its students, including selling unique USC products, volunteering at events such as the Pasadena Showcase House, and participating in USC-sponsored activities like the USC Women’s Conference and USC Day of SCervice.
