On April 20, 2022, Velvet opened its doors at 1118 Colorado Boulevard, becoming the second-ever location for the popular California marijuana dispensary. One year later, Velvet has put down roots in the community, and is looking forward to commemorating its first anniversary with a special 10-day 4/20 celebration featuring promotions, giveaways and more.

Located on the cusp of West Pasadena, just off 134 near the Vons/Figueroa shopping center, Velvet is known for its relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and diverse clientele from throughout Pasadena, Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

“People come to see us for so many reasons, whether it’s for mood or pain management, relaxation or focus,” says Priscilla Alkais, General Manager at Velvet Eagle Rock. “We take time with each customer to get to know what they’re looking for, and to anticipate what they might be curious about.”

As a member of the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, Alkais is deeply involved in the surrounding community, and Velvet has supported many local small businesses with gift card donations and fund drives. Velvet also offers senior and veteran discounts through year-round Senior Sundays, Military Mondays and other community happy hours.

Their 4/20 celebration will be their biggest event yet, with promotions starting as early as April 14 and running for 10 days through April 23. With deals on their wide array of cannabis flower, edibles, CBD oils, topicals, tinctures, vapes, drinks and more, Velvet will have something for everyone, whether customers are seeking recreational or wellness products.

Thursday, April 20, will be the main event, with doorbuster giveaways for the first 100 guests to arrive. Easy parking is located in the back of store, just off of Colorado Boulevard. And customers can skip the line by ordering ahead – the full menu is available online and there will be designated registers for expedited pick-up.

Alkais is hoping that the event will be an opportunity for Velvet to thank customers, meet neighbors and show appreciation for the community who has been so welcoming and supportive.

“We’ve been thrilled to get to know so many amazing people here, as well as other local small businesses through the Chamber of Commerce,” Alkais says. “Our first year has surpassed our wildest expectations, and we want to pay that positivity back to our customers and neighbors.”

The clean and comfortable dispensary is worth a visit. Ranked first in California – second nationally – in Cannabis Business Times’ 2022 “Best Cannabis Companies to Work For,” Velvet has a consistent and knowledgeable staff of budtenders who greet customers with a smile and offer undivided attention to help them find products to suit their needs. Whether customers have a specific experience in mind, or aren’t sure where to even start, they can expect empathetic, white-glove service that immediately puts every guest at ease.

Velvet currently has two locations – Martinez, California, in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area, and the Eagle Rock store at 1118 Colorado Boulevard. A third location will be opening later this summer at Wilshire and Bundy in Brentwood, California.

“We’re really proud of what we’ve built here in Eagle Rock – the team, the store experience, it’s so uniquely Velvet,” says Alkais. “We can’t wait to celebrate that, and to kick off another year in this incredibly supportive community.”
