Virtual Music at Noon: Jazz It Up with Ross Margitza

Virtual Music at Noon sponsored by the Pasadena Presbyterian Church presents jazz pianist Ross Margitza on Wednesday, November 10, at 12 to 12:30 p.m., on YouTube and on Facebook Live.

Ross Margitza is also a trumpeter, composer, arranger, and educator. As a young musician, he studied with his father and grandfather, who were processional pianists in Detroit, Michigan. He started playing piano at six years old and the trumpet at age 10. He decided he wanted to become a jazz musician after listening to the recording “West Side Story,” by pianist Oscar Peterson.

Margitza received his BA from Michigan State University in 2009, his MA from Northern Illinois University in 2011, and his DMA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018.

He has performed with musicians such as Jon Faddis, Phil Woods, Gerald Wilson, Patti Austin, Rodney Whitaker, Wess Anderson, Antonio Hart, Lynn Roberts, and Christian McBride.
