‘What You Will’ Get At This Performance, is a Totally Fresh Take on Shakespeare

STAFF REPORT
Published on Mar 7, 2022

After a sold-out run at Descanso Gardens, “What You Will,” is coming to The Lineage Performing Arts Center in Pasadena on Thursday, March 10, to bring you a totally new and surprising experience of Shakespeare.

In turns funny, inspiring, heartbreaking, satirical, profound, silly, literal, figurative, and above all honest, “What You Will” is a passionate and moving dose of humanity through Shakespeare.

This Shakespearean “un-play” is the result of some of the Ensemble Shakespeare Theater’s favorite professional actors, writers, and improvisors creating mini-plays through the lens of their individual backgrounds, responding to and recontextualizing Shakespeare’s stories and words.

Every performance of “What You Will” is different from the last, with at least 30 percent of its content replaced with new material each month, guaranteeing a new experience and new surprises upon each return to the theater.

All patrons must show proof of complete vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours at the door for entrance. There will be no exceptions. All patrons must wear masks the entire night while inside the building.

Due to adult themes and language, mature audiences are suggested.

The show begins at 8 p.m.
