New Horizon School Middle School Debate Team Wins 4th Place Out of 18 Schools at Debate Tournament



The New Horizon School middle school debate team took 4th place out of 18 schools represented at the Rancho California Debate League’s last tournament held at Northview School this past weekend. Some of the other schools that participated were Polytechnic, Northview, Campbell Hall, and Sequoyah.

One of the NHS teams won all their four rounds, winning the 2nd place team award, and included the following team members: Wania Ahmed, Mahek Ahmad, and Sahar Kariem., all 8th graders. Individual students also received speaker points as well: Mahek Ahmad, 3rd Place Speaker; Wania Ahmad, 6th Place Speaker. Another NHS team with Ramzi Beshir, 8th grade, and Ahmad Eissa, 7th grade, won one round of debate and received the 13th place team award. Congratulations to the whole team and the coach, Ms. Shah, on these achievements and for a great year of debating!
