A man who was riding as a passenger in a car that went off the side of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena on Friday, killing the driver instantly, has also succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, authorities confirmed Monday.
The passenger died Saturday from injuries suffered in Friday’s 8 p.m. collision along the westbound side of the 210 Freeway at Lincoln Avenue, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Ramirez. He was initially described as a 33-year-old man. His identity was not available Monday.
The driver of the Nissan was identified by coroner’s officials as 30-year-old Randall Crow Acosta of Altadena. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The car was traveling at an unknown speed when it struck a guardrail along the freeway offramp and tumbled onto the street below, Ramirez said.
It rolled over several times and struck a palm tree before coming to rest in a residential front yard about 100 yards north of the freeway, officials said.
The investigation is being handled by the CHP’s Altadena-area office. Any witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the office at (626) 296-8100.
