Seven PUSD Magnet Schools Receive $15 Million Federal Magnet Grant



With seven magnet schools, Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) has a lot to celebrate this National Magnet Schools Month! Rep. Judy Chu visited Eliot Arts Magnet and Altadena Arts Magnet to congratulate PUSD on receiving three federal magnet grants totaling $15 million, the District said. PUSD has seven amazing Magnet Schools namely: Jackson STEM Dual Language Magnet Academy, Octavia E. Butler Magnet, John Muir High School Magnet, Washington Elementary School STEM Magnet, Longfellow Elementary School, Eliot Arts Magnet Academy, Altadena Arts Magnet.

The Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) awards support efforts to develop and revitalize magnet schools with academically challenging and innovative instructional approaches designed to bring together students from different social, economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds. These  grantees will implement a variety of curricular focus areas in 62 schools offering programming in all five areas of STEAM learning, career development, leadership skills, and language immersion [US Department of Education].
