Polytechnic School’s Sixth Grade Science Students Investigating A Model of Isostasy of the Earth’s Layers
Isostasy: the equilibrium that exists between parts of the earth’s crust, which behaves as if it consists of blocks floating on the underlying mantle, rising if material (such as an ice cap) is removed and sinking if material is deposited. (Courtesy of Google)
Polytechnic School’s Sixth grade science students recently modeled and investigated a model of isostasy of the earth’s layers using bowls of water, pennies, and a block of wood.
