PWS 3rd Graders Gets A Firsthand Look into the L.A.’s Past and Present

Pasadena Waldorf Grade 3 students were treated to a firsthand look into the city’s past and present with an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of the Original Farmers Market on a recent field trip, learning about the unique and important history the A.F. Gilmore Company has with the city of Los Angeles. Students were able to see most of the 3rd and Fairfax property, including the Gilmore Adobe and Archive Museum, visits with Market tenants, and learned about the rich history of the land, including how one of the country’s first real farmers markets was started by the Gilmore family to support both farmers during the great depression as well as city folk seeking good food, Gilmore Stadium which hosted Los Angeles’ professional and college sports teams, Gilmore Oil, and Hollywood’s first drive-in movie theater. What a treat! PWS thanks friends at the A.F. Gilmore Company for making this trip possible.
