St. Francis High School’s Online Learning Offer Students and Teachers Creative Opportunities

Online learning offers St. Francis High School students and teachers new and creative opportunities to grow! Here’s how Mrs. Traver is discussing the Franciscan virtue of the 4th quarter, joy, with the young men in her class:

“For today’s class, after answering a Google Classroom question on the 4th quarter virtue, joy, I was able to engage with my students through a Zoom meeting. I enjoyed discussing with them how they are both finding and bringing joy in this current situation. I was then able to walk them through a Google Slides presentation on our 4th quarter novel “Great Expectations”, complete with stopping to answer questions as they “raised” their hands.”

“From there, I was able to assign them to breakout rooms so they could work in small groups to research the life and times of Charles Dickens and create a presentation they will give next class. Finally, I called them all back and we ended with a vocabulary jam competition before we concluded class. I enjoyed being able to interact and teach them the material, as well as allow them to collaborate in smaller groups, plus enjoy some healthy competition.”

“I still miss our students so much and cannot wait to see their faces again!,” says Mrs. Traver.
