Celebrating Excellence in Music and Dance at Thurgood Marshall Secondary School

Thurgood Marshall Secondary School continues to shine through its outstanding arts education programs in music and dance. Over the past two weeks, students, families, staff, and community members have come together to experience the powerful impact of the school’s performance arts offerings.
These enriching performances were made possible by the dedication and talent of the school’s exceptional arts educators:
• Instrumental Band – Mr. James Pappalardo
• Choir – Ms. Michelle Espinosa
• Dance Performance – Ms. Darcy Naganuma
• Instrumental Orchestra – Ms. Heather King
Arts education at the secondary level plays a vital role in supporting academic achievement, critical thinking, and creativity, while also nurturing essential social-emotional skills such as empathy, self-expression, and resilience. Through these programs, students develop confidence, strengthen engagement, deepen cultural understanding, and form meaningful emotional connections. The arts also foster community involvement, contribute to higher graduation rates, and prepare students for a wide range of future pathways.
The recent performances provided student audiences with opportunities to connect more deeply with one another, celebrate their peers’ talents, and share in memorable experiences that strengthen the school community. Thurgood Marshall Secondary School is grateful for the exceptional performances, outstanding opportunities, and lasting impact created through its vibrant arts programs.
It is always a great day to be a Thurgood Marshall Eagle-Eagles Soar to Success!
