Chandler School Integrates Technology Across All Grade Levels to Support Student Learning

Technology is woven into every stage of the educational experience at Chandler School, with a program designed to help students build digital literacy and responsible technology habits from the earliest grades through middle school.
Students in kindergarten through second grade are introduced to technology at a pace appropriate for their age and developmental level. Using Apple iPads provided through shared classroom carts, they participate in technology lessons led by the school’s Technology Department. These lessons are integrated into classroom instruction whenever possible, allowing students to develop foundational skills in research, digital project creation, and responsible online behavior while supporting their regular academic studies.
In grades three through five, technology becomes a more consistent part of classroom learning. Students use Apple MacBooks from shared laptop carts to complete academic work across multiple subject areas. With access to laptops for up to half of their weekly classroom time, students strengthen their proficiency with a variety of software applications while learning important concepts such as digital citizenship, fair use, copyright, online etiquette, and effective research practices. Classroom teachers work closely with the Technology Department to integrate digital tools into everyday instruction.
The school’s middle school program, serving grades six through eight, features a one-to-one laptop initiative in which families purchase Apple MacBooks for students to use throughout their middle school years. The devices are incorporated into daily classroom instruction across a wide range of subjects. As part of the curriculum, students further develop their understanding of online safety, digital citizenship, effective web research, media creation, organization, collaboration, and the responsible use of school-supported online databases, software applications, and collaborative learning tools.
By introducing technology in age-appropriate stages and expanding students’ digital skills each year, Chandler School seeks to equip learners with the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate an increasingly technology-driven world.
