Congresswoman Judy Chu Honors Lori Touloumian as Educator of the Year at Congressional Leadership Awards
At the annual Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards Ceremony, Congresswoman Judy Chu recognized Lori Touloumian, Marshall Fundamental Principal, as Educator of the Year! The Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards is an annual event recognizing the diverse leadership and volunteerism in the cities making up California’s 28th Congressional District. Award recipients were selected because of the commendable work they have accomplished in their respective fields.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be receiving the Educator of the Year award,” stated Ms. Touloumian. “In 25 years, whether as a teacher, coordinator, assistant principal, or principal, one aspect remains true: it is a privilege to have an impact on a child’s education. That my work has the ability to have a positive influence on a student’s educational journey and future – in my opinion – is the greatest gift.”
Under Principal Touloumian’s leadership, Marshall launched innovative programs like “Summer SOAR” and revitalized arts programs, which helped Marshall students succeed and achieve a 97% graduation rate. “We are #PUSDproud!”
