Flintridge Prep Students Meet Mosaic Artist Hannah Maximova

Flintridge Preparatory School (FPS) Students from Biliana Popova’s 9th grade ceramics class went on a field trip to the Nature Center in Deukmejian Wilderness Park to meet with the mosaic artist Hannah Maximova, who created the mural on the side of the center. She talked about her inspirations for the project and the process of creating such a large-scale installation. The mural depicts the local landscape and animals as they appear throughout the day. It took Hannah four years to plan the mural and six months to execute her vision. She mounted glass tiles to concrete boards in her studio, which were then installed on-site.
