Honoring Excellence at the PUSD Black History Living Museum
Pasadena Unified School District’s Board of Education recognized the first, second, and third place winners of the PUSD Black History Living Museum, celebrating their powerful performances honoring influential Black historical figures. Students recited speeches in character as their chosen person, showcasing their research, public speaking skills, and deep connections to history through this engaging learning experience. Through months of preparation, participants brought history to life while developing confidence, creativity, and presentation skills. The Living Museum continues to be a meaningful tradition that encourages students to explore the achievements and contributions of Black leaders who have shaped history and culture.

• First Place – Langston Griffin as Jimmy Hendrix (5th Grade, Jackson Elementary)
• Second Place – Ines Barnes as Ruby Bridges (4th Grade, Don Benito Elementary)
• Third Place – Emil Griffin as Floyd Norman (3rd Grade, Jackson Elementary)
The Board commended all participants for their dedication and hard work, noting the importance of preserving and sharing these inspiring stories. Their outstanding performances reflected both academic excellence and a heartfelt appreciation for the individuals they portrayed.
