Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School Library Earns National Recognition



Natalie Daily, librarian at Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School, holds a certificate following the school’s recognition as a finalist for the 2026 National School Library of the Year Award.

Pasadena Unified School District is celebrating Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School after its library was named a finalist for the 2026 National School Library of the Year Award by the American Association of School Librarians. The prestigious honor recognizes the school’s innovative library program, which fosters literacy, student leadership, and a lifelong love of learning through engaging opportunities that connect students with books, authors, science, and the arts. The district also congratulated librarian Natalie Daily and the entire Octavia E. Butler Magnet community for this outstanding national achievement, applauding their commitment to creating an inspiring and enriching learning environment. With this recognition, the school’s Bears continue to demonstrate that they are truly on the rise.
