John Muir Early College Magnet Earns State Recognition for Exemplary Dual Enrollment Program
The partnership between Pasadena Unified School District, John Muir High School Early College Magnet, and Pasadena City College has been recognized by the California Department of Education with the prestigious 2026 Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award, celebrating the program’s outstanding commitment to expanding college access and academic opportunity for students.
Through Pasadena Unified’s dual enrollment initiative, high school students are able to earn college credits while completing their high school education, giving them a valuable head start on their college journey. At the center of this achievement is John Muir Early College Magnet, where students benefit from expanded access to college-level coursework offered during the school day in partnership with Pasadena City College.
The award honors schools and districts that demonstrate equitable access to higher education opportunities, strong student support systems, and meaningful academic success.
