The International Space Academy, the award-winning high school program co-sponsored by La Cañada Flintridge Sister Cities and JPL is returning for the 2021-2022 school year. The Academy is a space entrepreneurial program where student teams form start-up companies and compete on challenges spanning from design of launchers and landers to a stock market simulation. The Space Academy program is open to students in grades 11-12 who attend any of the local high schools or who live in the La Cañada Flintridge area. The application is only open from 8/5/21- 9/3/21, and can be found at www.lcfsistercities.org.

The International Space Academy began in 2016 in collaboration between JPL and La Cañada High School. Since then, the Academy has expanded to include ALL of the local High Schools, and even creating a division in Villanueva de la Cañada, La Canada’s Spanish sister city. While students in California work on their projects, so do their partner companies at the SEK International School in Madrid, allowing both divisions to participate in an international stock market simulation.

Questions about the Academy can be directed to Amy Nespor at anespor@lcusd.net or visit https://www.lcfsistercities.org/international-space-academy/.
