Marshall’s Middle School Chess Club: Promoting the Joys and Benefits of Chess

The Marshall Fundamental Community is thankful for enriched opportunities for students in Middle School and High School. The Middle School Chess Club had immediate interest once introduced in October. Student Alen M. had an interest in creating a Middle School Chess Club. He did his research, built his cabinet, got an advisor, and recruited interested students, and the Middle School Chess Club is actively up and running on Wednesdays in Mr. Jarashow’s Classroom in M274. Chess teaches players a variety of skills, it helps improve cognitive function, enhances critical thinking, develops problem-solving, and builds confidence. The skills modeled in a game of chess are transferable in the classroom.
