Muir Water Polo Dominates Monrovia with 30-3 Victory

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, John Muir High School’s varsity boys water polo team made a powerful statement in their early-season schedule with a commanding 30-3 win over Monrovia High School. Playing in front of their home crowd in Pasadena, the Mustangs wasted no time setting the tone, overwhelming the Wildcats on both ends of the pool.

From the opening sprint, Muir displayed relentless offense, scoring in quick succession and building a wide lead by the end of the first quarter. Their defensive line was just as effective, shutting down passing lanes and forcing Monrovia into difficult shot attempts. The Wildcats managed only three goals throughout the entire match, highlighting Muir’s defensive discipline and goalkeeping strength.

The Mustangs’ depth proved to be a key factor, with contributions coming from across the roster rather than relying on one or two scorers. That balance not only secured the win but also showcased the team’s potential as they move deeper into the season. For the players, such a decisive outcome reinforces confidence and builds momentum heading into upcoming contests.

For Monrovia, the game served as a tough challenge. Despite the lopsided score, the Wildcats continued to battle until the final whistle, and the experience may prove valuable as they regroup and prepare for league play.

This win adds to Muir’s growing reputation as a program on the rise in the CIF Southern Section. If the Mustangs can carry the same energy and precision into future matchups, they may prove to be a serious contender in their division this year.
