Stratford School Altadena Offers Enrichment Programs for a Well-Rounded Experience
Stratford School Altadena is back in session and bustling with activity for students in Early Preschool (age 2) through 8th grade. In addition to Stratford’s integrated STEAM educational programs, Stratford School offers a variety of after-school programs to enrich and balance the overall learning experience. After-school options include extended day care (morning and afternoon until 6 p.m.), field trips, after-school clubs, and a growing number of sports options.
This week, the campus announced a new roster of after-school clubs and programs for students looking for additional enrichment outside the classroom. This year’s elementary and middle school line-up includes Hip Hop Dance, Comic Book Creators, Ballet, Escape Room, Robotics, Theater, Podcasting/Journalism, Debate, and Math Competition Club. Sports offerings now include after-school tennis, soccer, flag football, volleyball, and pickleball.
New Clubs for Pre-K Students
Over the last year, Stratford also introduced after-school clubs for Pre-Kindergarten students. This year, Pre-K students will have a new selection of clubs created just for them. Starting in the second week of September, young students will have the opportunity to participate in Ballet Club, Soccer Club, Pickleball Club, Little Medical Club, and Chinese Culture Club for students in the Mandarin Bilingual and traditional programs. These clubs are designed to help students expand their learning experience and begin developing interests in an environment where they feel comfortable and safe.
Before and After-School Extended-Day Options
In addition to clubs, Stratford’s Extended Day program includes homework oversight and tutoring, games, group activities, and plenty of outdoor play. Extended Day is also available before school, starting at 7 a.m. for working parents. With so many options, parents can choose what best meets their child’s individual needs and interests. “As parents and educators, we want to broaden our children’s horizons with opportunities and activities that can help them learn about the world and themselves. We are pleased to have so many offerings available for our students in the convenience of our school setting,” says Patrizia Ribaya, 1st-8th Grade Principal.
Creating Student Leaders through Community Giving
In addition to extended day and clubs, Stratford provides a wealth of opportunities for students to give back to their community through Stratford Cares. The Stratford Student Council works with the student body to bring forth giving initiatives that they feel would directly benefit an organization or population in need. Students plan, organize, and activate giving campaigns throughout the year. Students build independence and leadership skills and become active members of their community. Stratford hopes that students will continue this mission and carry this experience with them throughout their lives.
