Thurgood Marshall Super Readers Stand Out at Battle of the Books

Thurgood Marshall Secondary School proudly celebrated the success of its Battle of the Books (BOB) team, which earned silver medals at the Pasadena Unified School District’s middle school BOB competition. Throughout the year, students took on the rigorous challenge of reading 14 books and preparing to answer detailed and thought-provoking questions about each one. The competition demanded not only strong reading comprehension, but also teamwork, focus, and quick thinking under pressure. It was a serious intellectual challenge, and the entire school community expressed immense pride in the students’ dedication and accomplishments. Their achievement reflects countless hours of reading, discussion, and collaboration that strengthened both their academic skills and love of literature.

The team included Aaliyah Davis, Landon Pollard, Hana Rasmussen, Kamron and Leonardo Taheri, Cosmo Ramirez, Ashley Hernandez, Frida Luquin, Caitlin Scott, and Essie Streets. Thurgood Marshall’s BOB participants continue to inspire as true “Marshall super readers,” setting a high standard for future competitors.
