A Noise Within Theatre Returns with Ninth Production of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’

Perhaps what we love most about the holidays are their sheer dependability. The lights and decorations will go up, gifts will be bought and given, families will gather, and children will sing. And it will all happen again next year.

In that same spirit, A Noise Within Theatre announces the return of Los Angeles’ longest-running production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, running December. 2 through December. 23, 2021, for its ninth holiday season, this time with an all-new musical score by Robert Oriol.

Dickens’ comforting tale of forgiveness has become an annual holiday tradition for A Noise Within.

And speaking of giving, the best seats to A Christmas Carol will be available for only $30 through October 30 for all performances, in honor of the theater’s  30th anniversary season.

Resident Artist Robert Oriol has also written a new musical score to accompany the production. Oriol, an accomplished composer and sound designer, received the 2019 Los Angeles Drama Critics’ Circle Special Award for Distinguished Achievement in Theatrical Design.

“Finally returning to our acclaimed presentation of A Christmas Carol allows families to once again take a supremely theatrical journey and celebrate the transformative power of forgiveness during the holidays,” said Producing Artistic Directors Geoff Elliott and Julia Rodriguez-Elliott, in the theatre’s play announcement.

“Ebenezer Scrooge’s rebirth from miserly curmudgeon to the epitome of love and generosity affirms our faith in the potent goodness of humanity during this beloved time of year,” the announcement continued.

And, by popular demand, ANW will present another “Relaxed Performance” of A Christmas Carol on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. As the world slowly but surely re-emerges from the pandemic, Relaxed Performances provide an inviting environment for those living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental delay, neuromuscular disorder, sensory integrative dysfunction, attention deficit disorder, and disorders of social interaction and communication. All the production quality audiences expect from A Noise Within is still in place, with light and sound levels adjusted to create a sensory-friendly environment for all attending.

For those who might prefer a laugh instead of a lesson,  Noise Now’s Latina Christmas Special – An American Comedy of Latina Proportions will return on Dec. 14 & 15 at 7:30 p.m., with $30 tickets also available for all seats through Oct. 30.

This Off-Broadway production is a timely comedy about those who ride the edge between the culture of immigrant parents and the culture of America.

Every ethnicity can relate to the feeling that their parents and families are a little “weird” during the holidays when compared to the traditional American Christmases fed to us on TV.

Sandra Valls (Showtime’s Latin Divas of Comedy), Maria Russell (Lt. Liz Salazar on TruTV’s Tacoma FD), and Diana Yanez (Margaret Cho’s Sensuous Woman) show how every family has its own hilarious peculiarities, everyone wants to belong, and everyone, regardless of their background, has a hard time at some point in their life.

Single ticket prices for A Christmas Carol and Latina Christmas Special are $30 through Oct. 30 for the best seats in the house to all performances. Tickets are available at anoisewithin.org, by phone at 626-356-3121, and at the box office located at 3352 East Foothill Blvd in Pasadena, Calif.
