The Friends of the Pasadena Library is inviting the public to pick up books by the bagful for $5 during a sale on Saturday to support the institution.
The sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot outside Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St., organizers said.
Guests will be able to fill grocery bags with gently used, donated books for $5 each, the library said in a written statement.
The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library has traditionally operated a bookstore within the Central Library, but the facility has been off-limits since March 2020, first due to pandemic precautions, and then due to seismic safety concerns.
“The Friends are hosting a book sale to move some of the inventory; donations of gently used books received and processed prior to closure,” the statement said. “Don’t worry — the bookstore will be back, and the Library is keeping that space in mind as we investigate the best ways to continue providing Central Library’s essential services and collection until Central Library can reopen safely.”
Only cash and checks will be accepted during the sale.
