Children Will Enjoy ‘Royalty & Tea’ With Rose Queen Bella and Her Court This Weekend

Published on Jan 12, 2023

Future Kings, Queens and Princesses, come dressed in your finery to attend the Royal Court Tea Party this Saturday from 2:00 p.m. yo 3 p.m.!

The event intended for families and children aged 2 to 12 is free and open to the public at the Pasadena Public Library’s Hastings Ranch Branch at 3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd.

“The children of Pasadena look forward to it and many come dressed in their prince and princess attire to greet the Royal Court,” Pasadena Public Library’s Catherine Hany said.

The Royal Court, which consists of Rose Queen Bella Ballard and the Royal Princesses – Michelle Cortez-Peralta, Uma Wittenberg, Adrian Crick, Salia Baligh, Zoë Denoncourt, and Sahanna Rajinikanthan – and has just recently played a big role in the 2023 Rose Parade, will attend the tea party and interact with future princesses.

Kids attending will also be offered two craft projects to enjoy, Hany said.

“They will decorate their own family tree castle and either draw or add their own family photos in the castle windows and door,” she said. “They will also decorate paper crowns and tiaras to wear while Queen Bella and the Royal Princesses read their favorite princess stories and share their recent experiences on the Royal Court with them.”

Kids attending can also ask the Queen and Princesses questions about their experiences.

Attendees will be able to take a photo with the Royal Court in front of a castle backdrop covered with roses, Hany said. Tea and hot chocolate will be served and nutritional snacks provided.

Hany said by taking part in the Royal Court Tea Party and meeting the Tournament of Roses Royal Court, kids will learn that focusing on academic achievement, student activities, and volunteering dreams are possible for the seven young ladies selected each year for the Royal Court.

“You never know if one of the attendees will be a Queen or Princess on a future Royal Court,” she added.

Aside from the Royal Court Tea Party at Hastings Ranch Branch Library, the Royal Court attends nearly 100 community and media functions from the time they are selected through a rigorous screening process. They serve as ambassadors of the Tournament of Roses and the Pasadena community.
