Experience the Magic of Jazz Under the Open Sky with Michael Haggins Band at Playhouse Village Park

Published on Jun 25, 2023

Prepare to be transported by the soulful tunes of jazz as the Michael Haggins Band graces the stage at Playhouse Village Park. The event, part of ‘Jazz in the Park,’ is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 2, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Presented by the Playhouse Village Association, the evening promises enchanting melodies amidst the idyllic surroundings of the park.

Michael Haggins, the star of the evening, embarked on his musical voyage at the young age of eight. His passion for music carried him to Cal-State-University Long Beach, where he deepened his understanding of the art. Not just an accomplished musician, Haggins brings a unique perspective to his craft, having worked as a Video Editor for CBS Television Network for over a decade. Simultaneously, he honed his performing skills by playing at various jazz clubs during the evenings.

Currently, Haggins devotes his time as a full-time performing and recording artist. His musical journey has been greatly influenced by his uncle Al Duncan, a much sought-after session drummer for record labels such as Stax, Vee-Jay, and Chess in Chicago during the 1950s and 1960s. Al was later succeeded by Maurice White, the co-founder of the iconic band Earth, Wind & Fire.

The event is free, making it a perfect summer treat for all jazz lovers in the city. So mark your calendars and head to Playhouse Village Park at 701 E. Union St., Pasadena, to unwind and surrender to the rhythmic allure of jazz.
