Grand Finale of 24th Annual Free Summer Concerts Today Will See The Walking Phoenixes Perform

Published on Sep 11, 2021

The Rotary Club of Altadena, in association with the Sheriff’s Support Group of Altadena, presents the Grand Finale of the 24th Annual Summer Concert Series on Saturday in the Amphitheater at Farnsworth Park, Altadena.

This concert will feature The Walking Phoenixes, a Johnny Cash tribute band.

The series started eight Saturdays ago, with a well-known Southern California band featured each Saturday, and is supported by generous sponsors and Rotary Club of Altadena partners such as MonteCedro Senior Living. Other major sponsors include County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Morgan Stanley, Farnsworth Park, Linda Seyffert and Associates, Dr. David Campbell, the Altadena Library District, the Altadena Town and Country Club, Altadena Neighbors Magazine, El Patron Mexican Food Restaurant, and Riedon Inc.

El Patron Mexican Food Restaurant will be cooking and selling food at the top of the Amphitheater, and the Rotary Club of Altadena will be selling beer and wine from the ground floor of the Davies Building.

At this free concert that begins at 7 p.m., the Rotary Club of Altadena will be following guidelines from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.

The Walking Phoenixes take the stage in their signature all-black three piece suits, as a tribute to the “Man in Black.”  Each band member has a different perspective and “a very different palette of paint to work from,” says band description, but “add all that together, and you get their sound with the Johnny Cash overtone essence and presence.”

The band’s been playing at benefit concerts for all different types of awareness campaigns, from mesothelioma motorcycle runs to job awareness for veterans, life care centers for the aging, to even a prison.
