Hollywood Blockbusters: A Star-Studded Celebration of Movie Music with the Pasadena POPS

Pasadena Symphony and POPS will wrap up the summer season on Saturday, Sept. 9, as they present Hollywood Blockbusters, a concert featuring the best of film music from the golden age of Hollywood to the present.

Led by Principal POPS Conductor Michael Feinstein, the orchestra will perform songs by iconic composers such as Henry Mancini, John Williams, and more, accompanied by two of Broadway’s brightest stars: Christine Ebersole and Cheyenne Jackson.

Feinstein’s work as an educator, archivist, interpreter, and Ambassador of the Great American Songbook have established the popular and honored musician as a pre-eminent force in contemporary music. His career as a top-selling and critically acclaimed recording artist and a star performer has earned him five GRAMMY Award nominations, two Emmy nominations of his PBS-TV specials and acclaim for his NPR series.  His live concerts have spanned the globe including such iconic venues such as The White House, Buckingham Palace, Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.

Ebersole, a two-time Tony Award winner and TV veteran, will showcase her versatile voice and charm in songs from classic movies like “42nd Street,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” and “Pink Panther.” Ebersole has has appeared in numerous TV shows such as “Grey Gardens,” “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” and “Bob Hearts Abishola.”

Jackson, a Grammy-nominated singer and actor, will display his impressive vocal range and charisma in songs from modern hits like “E.T.,” “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and “Descendants 3.” Jackson has been hailed as a sensational performer by Variety and has starred in several TV shows and movies such as “Behind the Candelabra,” “Glee,” “30 Rock,” “The Masked Singer,” Fox’s “Call Me Kat,” and “American Horror Story.”

The concert will take place at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens  at 301 N Baldwin Ave., Arcadia, a scenic venue that offers a perfect setting for an outdoor musical extravaganza. 

Guests can bring their own picnic baskets or enjoy the on-site dining options from Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Claud & Co., Julienne’s Fine Foods, Marston’s Restaurant, and others. The grounds open at 5:30 p.m. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m.
