Pasadena Community Orchestra Launches 2023-24 Young Artist Competitions with New Junior Category

In a resounding call to youthful virtuosos, the Pasadena Community Orchestra heralds the commencement of its 2023-24 Young Artist competitions. 

This prestigious annual event provides a stage for emerging talents, now with an extended embrace to include a newly introduced Junior Competition. 

The Senior (or Open) Competition is open to performers aged 14 through 26, with an application deadline of January 20, 2024. The newly introduced Junior Competition is for performers aged 13 through 18, with a video submission deadline of January 6, 2024.

Winners of the competitions will have the opportunity to perform as soloists with the Pasadena Community Orchestra. 

The Senior competition winner will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize, an increase from the $500 prize in prior years. The Junior competition winner will receive a $500 cash prize.

The PCO has been offering solo performance opportunities for young instrumental artists each year through the Young Artist Competition since 1986. The competition provides a learning opportunity for talented young musicians to demonstrate their skill and artistry. 

The audition process itself is a growing experience for players seeking to perform in public.
