Might Morphin Power Rangers Land in Pasadena for Power Morphicon

Published on Aug 27, 2022

Power Morphicon, a three-day event celebrating all things Power Rangers with celebrity guests, panels, and collectible vendors, will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center this weekend, wrapping up Sunday, Aug. 28.

Power Morphicon, or PMC, is a biennial convention held primarily and exclusively in California. Although the convention was originally created for Power Rangers, it has since expanded to include guests from other Tokusatsu franchises such as the Metal Hero Series, the Kamen Rider Series, as well as Super Sentai.

PMC also hosts panels for Power Rangers guests at other conventions such as Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con.

The first PMC in 2007 celebrated the 15th anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. In 2010, the second PMC celebrated the 15th anniversary of the release of “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.”

Pasadena hosted the fourth PMC on August 22 to 24, 2014, which celebrated the 21st anniversary of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The 2014 PMC was notable for being the debut year of Japanese Super Sentai actors as guests.

This weekend, visitors to PMC 2022 should expect to see Toshihide Wakamatsu, known as Gai Yuki or Black Condor from Choujin Sentai Jetman, and Ryota Ozawa, Captain Marvelous or Gokai Red from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
