Vamonos! Mobilizing Refugees and Asylum Seekers

STAFF REPORT
Published on Mar 5, 2021

The Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center will be holding a forum at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 7, on the future for asylum seekers under the Biden administration.

Organized by the PJTC Social Justice Committee, the forum, titled “Vamonos! Mobilizing Refugees and Asylum Seekers,” is a good opportunity to learn what’s needed for a humane asylum system and how you can help.

“Vamonos” is similar in meaning to “vamos,” which means “let’s go,” but with the first person plural, “nosotros,” attached.

The online event will feature personal testimony and expert speakers from Al Otro Lado, an organization that provides free legal services on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border and beyond; CLUE, or Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice — LA; the Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center; and Public Counsel LA, the nation’s largest pro bono law firm, followed by Action Opportunity breakout rooms.

There is no registration fee to attend. Just sign up for the Zoom through http://bit.ly/pjtcsjc-asylum21.
