Murray’s sound is a testament to her influences, including Yuval Yaron (a student of Gingold & Heifetz) and Franco Gulli, and she has garnered numerous accolades throughout her career. In 2004, she won an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and from 2008 through 2010, she was named a BBC New Generation Artist. Murray was also a member of Lincoln Center’s Chamber Music Society II from 2004-2006.

She is also dedicated to advocating for contemporary works written for the violin and has premiered many pieces, including Malcolm Hayes’ violin concerto at the BBC PROMS.

Tai Murray will play a violin by Tomaso Balestrieri fecit Mantua ca. 1765, on generous loan from a private collection.

In addition to “An American in Paris,” the program will also include works by Barber, Carlos Simon and Rachmaninoff. The concert will be conducted by Kensho Watanabe, fast becoming one of the most exciting and versatile young conductors to come out of the United States

With Murray’s virtuosity and Watanabe’s conducting, expect the Pasadena Symphony is sure to deliver performances that will be both exciting and inspiring.
