The former home of the Crack Shack at 30 West Green Street in Old Pasadena has a new tenant. According to John Berger of Lee Associates, owner Isias Hernandez has signed a lease for the newest location of his Craft by Smoke and Fire restaurants.

It will be the restaurant’s second location, with an original shop in Anaheim.

The barbecue restaurant specializes in a wide range of American comfort foods, along with a dash of Mexican style with dishes like Short Rib Birria and Prime Brisket Quesadillas, A ‘Street Corn Named Desire,” and Ay Dios Guacamole.

There is also a range of steaks from Porterhouse to New York to Tomahawk, as well as a variety of burgers and sandwiches, including a Mac Rib Sandwich, that looks nothing like the McDonald’s offering, a brisket grilled cheese, as well as a vegan sando and a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich.

The historic 1925-era 6,000 square-foot property, which was renovated in 2019, sits next door to the former location of a 1922 Fire Department livery stable, and joins a busy restaurant neighborhood, which includes Buca di Beppo, Gyu-Kaku, Green Street Tavern, Rocco’s Tavern, Beer & Claw, Boiling Point Concept, and 850C Bakery Cafe.

“It’s such a great restaurant, and this is such a perfect location for it,” said Berger Thursday.

No timeline has yet been announced for construction or opening.
