Alverno Heights Academy’s After-School Program Takes Learning to My Friends Cafe

Alverno Heights Academy is taking after-school enrichment to a new level with its innovative “Boba and Friends” class, part of the Academy’s ROAR after-school enrichment programs. Recently, the class ventured out on an educational field trip to My Friends Cafe in Sierra Madre, offering students a unique hands-on experience in the art of boba tea making.

During the trip, Rockie, the owner of My Friends Cafe, guided the students through the intricate process of creating boba tea. He introduced the young learners to the various types of bobas and jellies, explaining the characteristics and origins of each ingredient, thus enriching their understanding of this popular drink.

The visit was more than just a fun excursion; it was an integral part of their ROAR class curriculum designed to provide practical learning experiences. The students eagerly participated in making their own boba drinks, applying their new-found knowledge to mix the perfect beverage.

“This field trip was an extension of our ROAR classes, which aim to broaden our students’ educational horizons beyond the conventional classroom environment,” said a faculty member from Alverno Heights Academy. “Our after-school program is dedicated to introducing students to a diverse range of activities and learning opportunities like this one at My Friends Cafe.”

The Academy’s commitment to such dynamic learning experiences underscores its dedication to fostering a comprehensive educational environment. Students left the cafe with not only a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind boba tea but also with memorable experiences that complement their academic growth.
