Bethany Christian School Appoints Jonathan Hawes as New Head of School

The Bethany Christian School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jonathan Hawes to serve as Head of School, beginning in July 2022. Mr. Hawes currently serves as the Vice Principal for Operations at Bethany Christian School as well as teaching 6th grade Science and History. He has been instrumental in establishing Bethany’s new Annual Fund and overseeing implementation of health and safety requirements during the pandemic. He has also represented our school as a member of an ACSI/WASC accreditation visiting team to a local accredited school.

Mr. Hawes holds a BS from California State University Long Beach and an MA from Azusa Pacific University in Education with an emphasis in Digital Teaching and Learning. He also holds a certificate in School Leadership through Christian School Management. Mr Hawes began teaching in 6th grade at Bethany Christian School in 2016. Mr. Hawes grew up in Pasadena, attended Bethany Church Sierra Madre, and is an alumnus of Bethany Christian School, having attended in grades two through eight. Mr. Hawes lives in Sierra Madre with his wife and children.

Mr. Hawes is honored to accept this position as new Head of School at Bethany Christian stating, “I appreciate and am humbled by this call to action. I look forward to leading the school in this next chapter.
