Flintridge Prep Community Welcomes Author and Educator Dr. Liza Talusan

Dr. Talusan is the author of "The Identity Conscious Educator: Building Habits and Skills for a More Inclusive School"

Flintridge Preparatory School (FPS) staff and students were honored to host Dr. Liza Talusan for a pair of workshops with the Flintridge Prep community about identity conscious practices and engaging in difficult conversations.

In the afternoon, Dr. Talusan presented to faculty and staff, encouraging them to lean into their curiosity to build the conditions for collaboration and sharing insight on how to build knowledge, engage in reflection, and move to action. Dr. Talusan is the author of The Identity Conscious Educator: Building habits and skills for a more inclusive school. Click here for Dr. Talusan’s brief bio or visit https://www.lizatalusan.com/.

The evening’s presentation to parents, guardians, and friends of the community as part of the Community Speaker Series provided actionable steps for guardians to engage in identity conversations with their children. Be sure to create space in conversations and allow both parties time to think and respond, ensure that the person you are speaking with has choices in the scope, direction, and goal of the conversation, and finally keep it brief.

FPS thanks Dr. Talusan for her time and invaluable insight.
