Mayfield Junior School began its 89th school year with Morning Prayer, a meaningful tradition led by the Student Council. Continuing the community-feel and social-emotional connections MJS is known for, students, faculty, staff, and parents listened to the sounds of “We Are Family” as each entered the virtual gathering.

Planning for the 2020-21 academic year was a school community-wide effort, including revamping the daily schedule to best serve Mayfield’s 520 students. Early on, MJS formed Scenario Planning and Task Forces representing all parts of the school community to meet a clear goal: to continue to provide Mayfield students with highly-effective, flexible, and adaptable learning models in a healthy and safe environment. The result was a multi-faceted approach called Ever Forward, which allows students to thrive remotely or on-campus depending on the direction given by health and government officials.

Head of School Joe Sciuto recently completed his first year leading the MJS community and is excited about this year’s opportunity. “Our world is experiencing unique times, and I am so proud and feel blessed to be part of Mayfield Junior School,” said Sciuto. “From our Board and Leadership Team to our wonderful teachers and supportive parents, there has been no stone unturned—all for the benefit of our students.”

Mayfield’s Holy Child education blends innovation and traditional programming centered on nurturing the development of the whole child. Learn more about Mayfield’s Ever Forward program at www.mayfieldjs.org/EverForward.
