Pasadena Education Network (PEN) Shares Key Updates for PUSD Open Enrollment 2025-26

Some useful information from the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Enrollment office. If you plan to participate in Open Enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year or if you are temporarily displaced from your home, you’ll want to read this:

“My family wants to apply for a PUSD school for 2025-26. How can I apply?” The PUSD Office of Enrollment is updating our Open Enrollment application to enhance support to families displaced by the fires. PUSD will reopen applications for the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, January 17. Applications are available online at pusd.schoolmint.com.

Will the application deadline be extended for 2025-2026 Open Enrollment (lottery)? Yes, please see important dates below, which include the newly extended deadlines. Apply at pusd.schoolmint.com: Jan. 8, 2025, 9AM- Feb. 26, 2025, 4PM
• Results Available Online: Mar. 12, 2025 by 11:59PM
• Accept School Offers by: Mar. 19, 2025 by 4:00PM
• Applications will continue to be accepted after February 26, 2025 for families who miss the deadline.

When will school tours resume? PUSD Facilities teams are cleaning and preparing schools for reopening. School Principals will resume tours as soon as they are prepared to accommodate visitors. More information will be posted at pusd.us/tours as it becomes available.

Is support available to complete enrollment applications?
Enrollment staff is available by phone to answer questions and help families complete online applications: (626)396-3639. Families can also call this phone number to schedule an in-person appointment.

“How do I enroll my child if I do not have access to critical documents?” The Office of Enrollment staff is prepared to support families with alternative options.
• Parent Identification: Affidavit of Parent/Legal Guardian Identification
• Birth Certificate: Proof of Age Affidavit
• Address Verification: Affidavit to Verify Residence

“My PUSD student moved out of PUSD boundaries. Can the student remain enrolled in PUSD?” Yes! Your child may continue attending your PUSD school in person when on-campus instruction resumes.

If your child is not able to return to school when in-person instruction resumes, you may contact the school to request short-term independent study for up to 15 days. If your child will miss school for more than 15 days, you may enroll in the Center for Independent Studies by completing an independent study application at pusd.schoolmint.com.

“My PUSD student was displaced and has enrolled in a new school”. How do I disenroll from PUSD? Please contact the school you previously attended to complete a withdrawal form and return any school materials.

“If my PUSD student temporarily attends a non-PUSD school”, which school will they attend upon return? Our highest priority is to reunite any students who were displaced with their former school communities. Students may contact the Office of Enrollment for assistance upon return to PUSD. Any accepted lottery offers for the 2025-26 remain valid, even if your family relocated temporarily to another school district.
