South Pasadena High School Seniors Named State Champions in Parliamentary Debate



On May 2-4, 2025, South Pasadena High School’s Speech and Debate team competed against 175 schools in the State Tournament for the California High School Speech Association at Culver City High School.

Samuel Whitman competed in Congressional Debate, and SPHS sent two teams of Parliamentary Debaters: Elisa Argus and Kasra Ghaffari, and Paige Tang and Emilio Lois. After three grueling days of competition, Paige and Emilio finished in first place and were crowned state champions! Congratulations to all the state qualifiers, Paige and Emilio, and their Speech & Debate teacher, Christopher Herrin.
