Southwestern Academy proudly congratulates Grace, a talented ninth grade artist, for earning 2nd Place in the annual Congressional Art Competition hosted by Judy Chu, the first Chinese American woman elected to Congress. Competing against students from 75 high schools throughout the San Gabriel Valley, Grace’s remarkable graphite portrait was recognized for its exceptional detail, creativity, artistic skill, and cultural significance. Her achievement was celebrated during the prestigious awards event held at the Hilton Arcadia, where she was joined by her mother, family friends, Southwestern Academy Head of School Robin Jarchow, and art teacher John Kohn, all proudly supporting her accomplishment. Grace’s success is a testament to her dedication and artistic talent, and a proud moment for the entire Southwestern Academy community.
